AOBDA Joins National Clean-Up Exercise to Mark National General Cleaning Days

As part of the nationwide "Our Actions, Our Future: Cleaning Ghana after the Floods" exercise declared by the President H.E John Dramani Mahamah, the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly joined the rest of the country in undertaking a massive clean-up exercise on Friday July 10, 2026.

The exercise, which forms part of government's post-flood recovery measures under the Post-Flood Mitigation Committee was led by the District Chief Executive Hon. Olivia Bentil alongside the District Coordinating Director Ms. Sally Mahamah, the District Environmental Health Officer Mr. Benjamin Cudjoe and other heads of units and departments within the Assembly.

The team together with staff and personnel from the Assembly, embarked on a thorough clean-up of the district, focusing on the desilting of choked drains, clearing of weeds and debris from roads, and cleaning of public spaces to improve sanitation and reduce the risk of flooding in the district.

The clean-up exercise aligns with the national directive requiring all Ministers of State, MMDCEs, and Heads of Public Institutions to lead similar activities in their respective communities, as government intensifies efforts to protect the environment and prevent future flood disasters.

Hon. Olivia Bentil used the opportunity to commend staff and department heads for their enthusiastic participation and urged residents within the district to imbibe the culture of proper sanitation and environmental responsibility beyond the exercise.

The Assembly remains committed to ensuring a clean, safe and flood-resilient district for all residents.
